ENZI UNVEILS FY 2020 BUDGET RESOLUTION
March 22, Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY) unveiled the Fiscal Year 2020 Budget Resolution, which he predicted would reduce deficits by half a trillion dollars over five years. The Committee’s first markup is March 26, and the second is March 27. Releasing a budget resolution is a formality, and the Chairman’s bill will likely not face a vote.

Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos testified to the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies on the Department’s FY20 budget request Today, March 26.

GRAHAM AND DURBIN REINTRODUCE DREAM ACT
Today, March 26, Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) reintroduced the Dream Act, which, according to their press release, “would allow immigrant students who were brought here as children and grew up in the United States to earn lawful permanent residence and eventually American citizenship.”

NSF DIRECTOR CORDOVA TESTIFIES ON BUDGET
National Science Foundation (NSF) Director France Cordova testified to the House Appropriations Committee’s Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Subcommittee on the NSF’s FY20 budget request.

Representative Jose Serrano (D-NY) who chairs the subcommittee said about funding the agency “I know that budgets are really tight at times, but there are certain areas that should not take heavy cuts because they make life better for all of us and keep our country where it should be.” President Trump’s budget proposed deep cuts to the NSF.
