Today, Duke University joined 151 other professional scientific, engineering and education societies, national associations and universities in urging the withdrawl of the Executive Order stanching the flow of immigration from seven (7) muslim-majority countries.
“Scientific progress depends on openness, transparency, and the free flow of ideas and people, and these principles have helped the United States attract and richly benefit from international scientific talent”
EPA GRANTS BACK ON TRACK
Catherine McCabe, acting EPA Administrator, told the agency’s employees that the Trump administration’s review of grants was completed last Friday, and that the review was standard practice for transition efforts.
“All grants are proceeding normally, and nothing has been delayed. This includes environmental program grants and state revolving loan fund grants to the states and tribes.” McCabe added that the review of contracts is “nearly complete, with very few contracts still under review.”
McCabe also said in an email to EPA staff, “This is standard practice for a transition, as are many of the government-wide and agency-level actions the new administration has taken this week.”
